Good Memory

As we already said, everything is interrelated. Health, sexuality, money and human relations are all interconnected. One interact on another. By developing the ability to retain and recall better, someone will positively influence all other parts of his life.

What we are saying here is this: By developing the ability to retain and recall quickly and efficiently, it is possible to have a better overall health, flourishing sexuality, good financial situation and marvelous human relations.

Keep reading the whole contain, and benefit from this amazing truth.

In this part of our conversation, we will offer you the most effective approaches to obtain, develop and keep up a good memory. Thus you will get, if I may, a memory-of-an-elephant. We invite you to this memory-cultivation.

A bad memory is a handicap. A serious handicap. A good memory attracts success. A poor memory draws failure. A robust memory gives a head start. A failing memory gives a delay. A memory of an elephant leads more easily to happiness. Obviously, everything depends on what someone is memorizing...

The thinker said: "Memory is a faculty which forgets."

That's true. Let us never forget this thought.

But memory, like all other faculties, can be educated. Through brain training, memory becomes more accurate; the ability to memorize and recall increases. Remember that it is possible to improve memory, even with fun. The game worth the candle. Let’s everyone develops his memory.

A strong, agile and retentive memory is a powerful tool in the head of anyone who wants to win numerous victories. Memory that remembers everything, or at least what is essential, is a memory worthy of the name.

It is a flexible, tenacious, fast and accurate memory. It is a memory which assimilates quickly, retains for a long time and remembers quickly. It is a memory which has memory. A memorable memory. There is an urgent need to acquire such memory at any price; whatever your intellectual discipline or your occupation.

What is memory?

It is the intellectual mechanism that allows us to assimilate, retain, and remember.

There are several forms of memory:

• The most common is the visual memory. The visual one is linked to sight.

• The auditory memory is linked to hearing.

• The motor memory is linked to movements.

• The gustative memory is linked to the sense of taste.

• The olfactory memory is linked to the sense of smell.

Each creature has a form of memory more prominently than another. That is why it is wise to observe and determine the type of memory that is most prominent in your case. But it is possible and even advisable to use and develop all other forms of memory.

Memory is linked to the health of body, soul, mind, emotions and sentiments; but also to sexuality and financial conditions. The quality of interpersonal relationships influences the quality of memory. The ability to retain is also linked to these faculties: determination, concentration, willpower...

People easily remember what interest them and what they like. Maybe that is why Rivarol said: "Memory always obeys the commands of the heart."

We will study memory in two aspects: Physiological aspect and Psychological aspect.

Then we will develop the following five points: Drugs and memory. Memory diseases and their treatment. Prodigious memories. Some tips for parents and educators.

* Physiological aspect of memory

The biological location of memory is the brain. More precisely: the gray matter of the brain. During a brain activity, such as memorization, the brain receives a large quantity of blood. Experimentally, this is verifiable in a laboratory.

The brain is the organ that has the highest circulatory flow: 0.75 to 1.5 liter of blood per minute. The brain is also a major consumer of oxygen. Glucose, calcium, phosphorus, glutamic acid, vitamins B... play a vital role in the good functioning of the brain, and therefore in the process of learning, memorizing and recalling.

ClariMind Memory & Concentration Supplement. Get A clear mind and Good Recall.

Have a good health.

Carbon dioxide, present in cigarette smoke, is harmful to the brain; that dangerous gas lowers memory capacities. Smoking, too much alcohol drinking, consumption of some illegal drugs, etc., diminish its performance. We see the importance of good nutrition and good air quality in brain activity, therefore in the liveliness of memory.

Please read again the section: How to eat properly. And the section: Air quality. See the page: Health of the body

We will see in turn:

A) The role of glucose in memorization

B) Calcium and phosphorus in memorization

C) Magnesium in memorization

D) Amino acids, purines and pyrimidine bases in memorization

E) Vitamins in memorization

F) Breathing in memorization

A) The role of glucose in memorization

The brain is fond of glucose (sugar). Glucose is first choice of the brain. Glucose is the only source of energy of the brain. The quantity of blood glucose can be lowered by: a diet low in sugar, fasting, and excess of insulin; this can slow down memory performance; because the electrical activity of the brain decreases when the amount of glucose in the blood decreases.

A optimum effort of brain requires a minimum amount of glucose. It is therefore essential to consume a sufficient daily ration of glucose. Per day, a healthy adult needs an average of 400 grams of carbohydrates, 100 grams of protein (meat), and 69 grams of fat (butter, animal or vegetable fat).

Let’s say it again: "400 grams of carbohydrates (sugar) come from different food sources. Please, don’t consume 400 grams of table sugar. Why tempt diabetes?"

B) Calcium, phosphorus and memorization

Human body of about 70 kilograms contains 1.4 kg of calcium. Calcium reduces neuromuscular excitability; while potassium increases neuromuscular excitability. Calcium deficiency causes insomnia, cramps, nervousness and convulsions. Phosphorus can synthesize and degrade sugars, nitrogenous substances and fat. Phosphorus allows the production of cell nuclei, sexual cells and skeletal development (with the help of calcium).

Cerebral activities (learning process, to retain and recall) are made possible by calcium and phosphorus. The absence or reduction of calcium and phosphorus in the diet reduces brain activities.

To function properly, memory requires that you eat foods rich in calcium and phosphorus. This is particularly true for pupils, students and anyone whose occupation requires significant intellectual efforts. However, manual workers and athletes will also need foods rich in calcium and phosphorus.

A good memory helps us win many victories. Although some pharmaceutical substances as glycerophosphate of lime can provide the brain the amount of calcium and phosphorus needed, it is better to consume calcium and phosphorus from natural foods. We provide some natural foods rich in calcium and phosphorus:

• Milk

This protective food alone can keep us alive. Here is his composition for 100 grams of industrial milk. Judge for yourself:

* Protein: 3.4 grams

* Sugars or Carbohydrates: 4.3 grams

* Lipid or fat: 3 grams (skimmed milk), 6 grams (not skimmed)

* Sodium: 60 milligrams

* Potassium: 150 milligrams

* Calcium: 125 milligrams

* Phosphorus: 90 milligrams

* Iron: 0.1 milligrams

* Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, b12, C, D, E, PP.

Milk is a complete food. But to a certain extent; since it is low in iron, copper and other trace elements. We should not exaggerate milk consumption, in order to avoid humoral intoxication. People with liver condition should drink skim milk. The hypertensive patient should drink chloride-free milk (powder milk). For the daily quantity, refer to Table 1: Canada's Food Guide.

Canada's food guide

• Cheeses

Food choices for the brain. Cheese feeds memory and human body; in addition to bring useful microbes for the proper functioning of the digestive system. Vitamin H is present in cheese. This vitamin helps maintain a healthy brain and restores energy.

Here are the most recommended cheeses: le Port-Salut, cantal cheese, le comté, le hollande, le gruyère. These firm cheeses firm are prime food for the brain; like milk, they are food choices of the intellectual; because they are rich in calcium and phosphorus. They also contain amino acids and vitamins. In terms of energy: 100 grams of gruyère equivalent to 350 grams of fish or 300 grams of beef. In terms of calcium: 100 grams of gruyère equals 3 kilograms of orange or 2.5 kilograms of cabbage.

• Eggs

Excellent food energy. Eggs are rich in protein, fat, vitamins (A, B1, B2, D, PP), minerals and essential amino acids. In addition to fortify memory, eggs fight depression (physical and psychological), asthenia, lesions (in xerophthalmia: dry eyes). We should not exaggerate eggs consumption. People with liver condition don’t tolerate eggs. Some people are allergic to eggs. Eggs can be the source of intestinal putrefactions or constipation. Eggs must be eaten fresh. Click here for an overview of the nutritional composition of eggs (100 g):

www.fineli.fi/food.php?foodid=29160&lang=en

As you can see, eggs are healthy food. Maybe this is where the expression: "Go cook an egg." finds all its meaning.

• Wheat germ

Food rich in vitamins (A, B1, B2, C, E and PP), phytin (a product rich in phosphorus and magnesium), amino acids, trace elements, wheat germ is an excellent brain food. The wheat germ feeds the brain, facilitates the learning and recall process, helps maintain good health. It is a powerful tonic. The hypertensive must refrain. Germed wheat is even more tonic and more energizing. Talk with your naturist.

• Almonds, hazelnuts and walnuts

These fruits are rich in calcium, phosphorus and vitamins (C, B1, B2). In addition to feeding the brain (which facilitate the memorization process, retention and recall), they strengthen teeth. However, people with ulcer and liver condition have to abstain. Sweet almonds and pine nuts are also good food resources, like other foods mentioned above.

C) Magnesium and memorization

Magnesium chloride is very important for metabolism. It helps to synthesize carbohydrates (sugar), helps the proper functioning of the genitalia, is involved in metabolizing calcium and phosphorus, helps digestion, alleviate irritability, fights cancer, and so on. Unfortunately, the diet of this civilization is often deficient in magnesium; and also deficient in vitamins and minerals by the way; hence the need to ensure that our food contains enough magnesium. If necessary, take supplements of multi-vitamins and minerals.

For the daily needs of vitamins and minerals, please see: Table 3: Vitamins and minerals.

The magnesium salt (pharmaceutical) is a source of magnesium. But the best is to take it from natural foods. Whole bread (brown bread) is rich in magnesium; unrefined salt and wheat germ are rich in magnesium. Green vegetables and oilseeds are also rich in magnesium. The last but not least, you guessed it, is... chocolate.

Chocolate is rich in magnesium; dark chocolate to be more precise. Due to theobromine (xantheose), the active ingredient of the cocoa bean, chocolate is a tonic for the brain and heart. For more details on this friend of health, please read the section: About alcohol, coffee, tea and chocolate.

D) Amino acids, purine and pyrimidine bases, and memorization

Amino acids (AA) make up proteins (meat). In other words, if protein was a house, amino acids would be the bricks. A diet low in protein, thus in amino acids, slows physical and mental activities. In order to be healthy and win other victories, it is important to consume our daily ration of protein. A healthy adult needs 100 grams of protein daily.

See the section: 2) The energy value of foods. And Table 1: Canada’s food guide.

Many people suffer and fail to enjoy a victorious life, because they don’t eat properly; or they don’t eat enough; which is the same. A good diet, a diet including the proper amount of protein, strengthens the health (physical, mental, emotional), flourishes sexuality and facilitates interpersonal relationships. In simple, adequate and rational diet helps you enjoy success and happiness.

There are 20 amino acids (AA). 8 essential amino acids and 12 non-essential amino acids (including 2 semi-essential AA, present in breast milk). The human body can synthesize some amino acids. But among those 20 AA, there are a dozen that can not be synthesized. It must be taken from foods.

Unlike animal proteins, plant proteins (especially cereals proteins) are poor in lysine. Vegetarians and vegans must supplement their diet by adding lysine; if they want to stay healthy.

To understand how this product can complement a diet, select the page: Health and read the section: A thought for our friends: vegetarians and vegans.

The best thing to do is to vary their diet. Brewer's yeast grown on malted cereal contains all the 20 amino acids, 14 minerals, 17 vitamins, trace elements, catalytic factors, and so on. In the section: Energizing foods and miracle substances, we selected beer yeast.

Glutamic acid is an amino acid that promotes intellectual functioning. Glutamic acid is also known as: The amino acid of intelligence and memory. This amino acid is abundant in brewer's yeast grown on malted cereal , milk, offal, beef and fish. Glutamic acid accelerates the ability to learn and strengthens the retaining process. Glutamic acid can cure some mental disorders and amnesia. The glutathione is a very good source of cysteine, glutamic acid and glycine. Milk, offal, beef and fish are good sources of glutathione.

Purine and pyrimidine bases present in brewer's yeast grown on malted cereal, liver, kidneys, brains, sweetbread, help the brain to function well. Oyster is also a nutritious food for intellectuals.

E) Vitamins, minerals and memorization

As we have already said, the diet of this civilization is sometime deficient in vitamins and minerals. It is therefore necessary to ensure that your diet contains all vitamins and minerals; if no, take supplements. For the daily needs of vitamins and minerals, we've prepared a table on the topic. Please refer to Table 3: Vitamins and minerals. For now, let’s say that:

It is necessary to take all vitamins, minerals and trace elements, if someone wants to be healthy; to optimize the brain functioning (the clarity of the mind, the retaining and recalling process).

We had a conversation with people regarding vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Some of them told us that they don’t take medication. These people did not understand that vitamins, minerals and trace elements are not medication in the sense that they see it. In fact, vitamins, minerals and trace elements, are natural substances that are found in nature (animals, plants, fruits and vegetables, etc.).

Of course science synthesizes vitamins and minerals in the laboratory (pharmaceutical vitamins and minerals). Science can produce vitamins and minerals through bacteria. But this does not nullify the fact that vitamins, minerals and trace elements are natural substances.

By calling them medication, many refuse to take multivitamins and mineral. By doing so they miss few opportunities; the opportunity to take multivitamins, minerals and trace elements to be healthy; to maintain and even improve the health of their body, soul, spirit and emotions. They miss the opportunity to improve their sexuality and interpersonal relationships. They miss the opportunity to deploy the full strength of their brain and memory.

Vitamins A, D, E, K are fat-soluble vitamins. That is to say, they are easily dissolved in oil or grease. The rest are water-soluble vitamins, because they are easily dissolved in water. Fat-soluble vitamins are more likely to accumulate in the body than water-soluble vitamins.

Vitamin B2 is very sensitive to light. That is why milk must be kept in opaque containers.

Vitamin C is very sensitive to heat (sun, cooking). Tobacco destroys vitamin C. Smokers should consume more vitamin C. But the best thing to do is to quit.

The body must be exposed to the sun to produce vitamin D.

Before starting the consumption of multivitamins, minerals and trace elements, talk with a health professional (doctor, pharmacist, dietitian, etc.).

There are multi-vitamins, multi-minerals and trace elements of plant or animal origin. Some people prefer substances of plant origin, because they adapt better to the body. But make sure you do not have any allergy to plants.

It is good to consume all the vitamins, minerals and trace elements at the same time; because some of these substances help the biochemical functioning of others. For instance, vitamin C helps the absorption of vitamin B9 (folic acid) and iron. But it is not prudent to consume too many vitamins. Because a hyper-vitaminosis (excess of vitamins in the body), is dangerous; hypervitaminosis happens more often with pharmaceutical vitamins (synthetic).

By experience, we recommend not to automatically follow the dosage that manufacturers put on boxes of multi-vitamins and minerals. Half of that dose is sometimes enough; especially if you eat well. Because all these vitamins, minerals and trace elements are present in a rational and balanced diet.

Obviously as a patient, a convalescent, an athlete, a physical worker, an active intellectual, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you may need to take supplements of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Talk to a health care professional.

Too much vitamins can lead to fatigue and bone pains.

• Hyper-vitaminosis A = loss of appetite, bone pains, irritability, itching, lips crack, gingivitis, growth anomalies.

• Hypervitaminosis D = fatigue, nausea, constipation, abundant urine, intense thirst. If the consumption of vitamin D is not stopped, drowsiness, headaches, hypertension, renal effects or death may follow.

For further details on the consequences of excess and a deficiency in vitamins or minerals, please see Table 3: Vitamins and minerals.

Wheat seeds, germed wheat, brewer's yeast grown on malted cereal, beer yeast, parsley, pollen and yogurt are few energetic nutrients rich in vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Regarding energy, please read the section above: Energizing foods and miracle substances.

F) Breathing and memorization

Please, see the section: Air and water quality, in the page: Health of the Body.

* The psychological aspect of memory

The conservation of a data is a function of the number of its associations, and probably also depends on the shape of these associations. This means that to retain and remember easily, it is necessary to associate ideas and vary associations. There are three forms of association of ideas.

The first form is: the association of ideas through contiguity. The contiguity is simultaneous: if two or more ideas come to mind at the same time. For example: I think of a banana, and the idea of good digestion comes at the same time in my mind. The contiguity is successive: if two or more ideas come to mind one after another. For example: I think of a banana, and the idea of good digestion comes first to mind, followed by the idea of being healthy.

The second form is: the association of ideas by the likeness. The likeness of form, structure, texture, concept, color, size, sound, word, etc. For example: I think of an oyster, and the shape, structure, texture, etc., of something else comes to my mind.

The third form is: the association of ideas by contrast. For example, the idea of love may be linked to hatred. The term big may be linked to small. The word long may be linked to short.

But there are other forms of association of ideas

• Verbal associations (happiness and happy nest). The word happiness sounds like happy nest.

• Associations by the evocation of a general idea (God and good) (devil and evil). The word God sounds like good

• The causal links. Cause-and-effect links (virtues and happiness)

• The concrete qualifications links (white and snow)

• The concrete qualifications links; subjective responses (branch and fruits)

• Qualifications that defines and determines an action (love and passion)

• Associations which involve a judgment of value (smoking and vice, alcoholism and vice, drugs and vice)

Learning to associate ideas helps memory (retention and recollection)

Anyway, the health of the body, soul, mind and emotions can determine the quality of memory. Being organized and tidy helps the retention and recall process. The will and desire plays a large role in the learning, retaining and recollecting process.

We will see in turn:

1) How to educate your memory

2) Attention and memory

3) The unconscious and memory

4) Mnemonic techniques and memory

And here we go!

1) How to educate your memory

Memory, like all other faculties, can be educated. Like all other faculties, it obeys laws. Psychological laws of memory. Memory can be likened to a muscle. With training and appropriate diet it is possible to give him the strength, speed, resistance, flexibility, precision, fidelity, and so on. With appropriate techniques, appropriate exercises, healthy eating, it is possible to strengthen memory and increase its longevity. This is the reality that you are invited to know. You will learn how.

It seems like in order to remember, someone must love and / or be very interested by what he/she wishes to memorize. Indeed, experience shows that we learn and recall better what we like, what interests us most. The quality of memory is linked to emotions and personality.

"Tell me what you learn and memorize easily; and I'll say who you are, what interests you."

The laws of psychological memory require a clear understanding of what you want to memorize. We retain better when we analyze and understand the meaning and scope of what we want to memorize. In practice you need to go into details; use dictionaries, atlases, or any other books linked to the topic that interest you. Use your judgment and reasoning. Expand your subject and have a good overview, establish cause-and-effect links, discover the sequences governing all parts of your subject; this is how you will facilitate the learning, memorizing and recalling process.

Know this: «A lesson well understood is already half known.»

Memory remembers more easily, when facts submitted to it are linked to feelings of joy or sadness, courage or fear, and so on, move us; because in these conditions, the liveliness of the facts is intensified; the fixation of these facts on our ability to retain and recall, like their recollection, are facilitated. This law governs the emotional memory. Use this mnemonic law to facilitate the process of retention and recall. Learning to link your emotions to what you want to learn, can accelerate your memory. In creating vivid emotions of love, joy, courage, success, happiness, etc, it is possible to accelerate the functions of your memory.

How to integrate emotions and sentiments in the memorizing process? This is how to do it in practice. Wear loose clothing, unfasten your belt, sit comfortably and keep your back straight. Relax. Relax all the muscles of your body, calm your mind and focus on what you do.

If you suffer from lung disease, talk to your health care professional before starting your exercises. In cases of pulmonary tuberculosis and epilepsy avoid this breathing exercise.

If you feel a slight discomfort: dizziness, vertigo, or a rapid heartbeat; stop for a moment, then resume your breathing exercise.

1) The exercise of deep breathing begins with a forced exhalation.

2) Then, inhale by pushing your abdomen to the front; then push your chest to the front. These two steps are done slowly.

3) Then exhale; first empty the air of your abdomen, then empty the air your chest. These two steps are done slowly.

4) Between the inhalation and exhalation, pause for three seconds.

5) After that pause, a respiratory round is completed. Start another respiratory round.

Now, focus on what you have to learn and memorize. Feel deep inside yourself that you will learn and memorize it easily; one time for all. Feel it with immense joy and pleasure. Picture yourself learning, memorizing and recalling it easily. Be certain that you will get what you want, and rejoice at the outcome. In your rejoicing, view all the benefits that a excellent memory will bring you. Visualize these benefits in color.

It is time to pronounce these sentences or yours. Pronounce them with a great desire. You must desire to have a good memory as you desire to breathe when you stay too long under the water; you must desire them as a fish desires to return to water...

• "I learn quickly and well. I have an excellent memory. I remember everything that I read, that I see, that I hear and that I do. I quickly remember everything, anytime."

• "I learn quickly and well. I'll remember what I learn very quickly. I will memorize it forever. Once and for all. I will recall this subject anytime and anywhere. "

• Etc.

Obviously, you'll find sentences that match your needs. The only limit, if any, is your imagination. If possible, pronounce these sentences. They will better enter your subconscious. By diversifying and intensifying your sensations (love, joy, happiness, etc.), during your learning process, you will learn and remember easily. We have named this approach: The exercise of integration of emotions and sentiments to the memorizing process. Again, it works. We tested this approach. Try it, you will adopt it. Write us and let us know.

Gradually, your respiration, emotions and sentiments, will be linked and well coupled. Linked in the extend that: your respiration, feeling and emotions, will release your pronounced desires into your subconsciousness (unconsciousness). The virtues contained in these sentences will strengthen each others, and you will enjoy their beneficial effects. You will learn easily. Your memory will be more efficient. In the same way, when you will think of those sentences, during your daily activities, you will harmonize your body, soul, mind, emotions, sentiments and breathing. Your breathing cycle will be wider and more regular.

See the section: Increase your strengths through the science of breathing,in the page: Health, part: Health of the Body .

These exercises are even more powerful when practiced before sleep and immediately after waking up. For the subconscious is more receptive at these times. The subconscious absorbs more easily what is being said. The thoughts and words that you say at these times, will therefore greatly influence your brain. Because they will improve your learning, memorizing and recalling process. This will help you succeed.

Let’s avoid overloading our memory with unnecessary readings. Edifying and rich readings can help to solidify our memory. For these useful readings provide us with noble information that stimulate our memory. These virtuous readings edify our thoughts, emotions and sentiments. Thus, they edify our body, soul and mind (intelligence). This type of good readings keeps us healthy. Let's avoid poor and indelicate readings. Some memoirs, novels, newspapers, magazines, etc., do not worth the paper they are made of. And I am polite...

The success of certain publications is simply due to what the author, the publishing house or the media have decided to assign them. A book sold at a very strong draw, is not necessarily a good book. A best seller is not necessarily the best book. Let’s be careful with these time-consuming readings. Time is money. Don’t waste time. And for the fighters that we are, you and I, we should be very careful.

However, it is sometimes impossible to assess the content of a book before reading it in full. For many summaries don’t reflect the content. But here, as elsewhere, the Golden Rule is: "Caution." Before being led by an idea, a philosophy, a belief, a group, a party, an organization, and the list goes on: "Caution."

In their enthusiasm and haste, many have chased the wind and lost the best of themselves. “Gone with the wind.” Check cautiously, find information from other sources, read others point of view, ask for advice, think by yourself, feel the weigh, weigh the pros and cons; this is also the wisdom of the wise. Strictly speaking, this paragraph is not a digression. It is so important that we will return in more detail in the section: :Human relations.

A net, precise and orderly topic facilitates the learning process, the ability to memorize and remember. Confusion is the sworn enemy of memory. Memory easily holds information when they are clear, neat, unambiguous and well ordered. If ideas or facts are better learned when they are clear, neat, unambiguous and well ordered; these ideas or facts are also better integrated when the learner is clear, neat, unambiguous and well ordered. In other words, we learn and remember better when our life is clear, neat, unambiguous and well ordered.

Organize your life. Your material and spiritual life: affective, emotional, financial, relational, etc. An unorganized life leads to poor memory and failure. That is why we started our conversation by showing you the importance of an organized life. See again the section: My Timetable.

What can be done immediately, has to be done right away. Do immediately, completely and properly, what needs to be done. By so doing, you will alleviate your worries and concerns. This facilitates the learning process. It helps memory, because worries and concerns may lead to the lack of concentration. The lack of concentration, among others, is the enemy of learning and memory.

Read a text several times, leaving between each reading a reasonable interval of time. The best is to read aloud, firstly. By doing so, auditory memory also contributes to the learning and memorization process. Letting few minutes between each reading allows memory to organize, classify and retain better. Then read the same text mentally, always leaving the same time interval between each reading.

We retain and recall facts easily, when they are presented in a funny or original way.

It is easier to retain what is learned, if you associate ideas. To associate ideas means: to establish logical links between things that you want to remember. You want to retain the name of someone? You can associate that name with an image. For example, Mrs. Candy is as sweet as a delicacy. In the same way it is easy to remember this telephone number: 204-06080. Take note that these numbers are multiples of two, interspersed by zero. See? It is easier to recall. Regarding association, please read the very beginning of this section: The psychological aspect of memory.

Sometimes, when I want to recall a name (of someone or something), I recite the alphabet trying to link each letter with the beginning of the name that I want to recall. This technique always works for me. Almost always... :) Try it and tell me if it works for you.

These examples are also forms of mnemonics that we discussed earlier; when we said that memory retains facts easily when they are presented in a funny or original way. Use these techniques, whatever your field of study, your interests or your hobby; because by associating facts and ideas, you simplify the retention and recall process. You learn, retain and recall better.

The fragmented method and the global method help to memorize a text. In the fragmented approach, someone learns the text in small fragments; reads and memorizes all the text, fragment by fragment. This method is suitable for young students. In the global method, someone learns the full text; reads the text in one shot and tries to memorize it globally, in once. This method is suitable for students and adults. The global method is more efficient than the fragmented approach, because it allows greater recall of what has been learned.

We have already said that there are different forms of memory: sensitive memory and motor memory.

* Let's start with “sensitive memory”. The most common is the visual memory; it is linked to sight. The auditory memory is linked to hearing. The olfactory memory is linked to smell. The gustative memory is linked to taste. And memory of what we feel (linked to the touching).

* The “motor memory” is linked to movements (motor skills).

And remember that we have talked about the emotional memory.

Everyone has a form of memory more efficient than another. That is why it is wise to observe and determine the type of memory that is most efficient in your case. But it is possible and even advisable to seek and develop all other forms of your memory. It will be beneficial for you.

Several forms of memory are better than one. If you remember better what you hear, then you must pronounce aloud what you want to remember. In the same way, the recall process is easier for some people when they see what they learn and memorize; these people have a visual memory. Those who memorize better what they draw or write, have a motor memory. Develop all facets of your memory. And if you educate children, think about that.

Solitude, calm and silence help to retain ideas or facts. Such a quiet environment can also help to remember more quickly. However, we know people who learn and memorize while listening to music or watching a movie. And they succeed. So... Everyone must observe and find the atmosphere and technique that suits him. Earplugs can isolate someone from a noisy environment. These earplugs can help to focus and understand better, therefore to learn and remember better.

Some people learn and memorize better in the early morning hours. Others do so during another time of day or night. Everyone has to search and find his best time to learn and memorize.

However: rest, good oxygenation of the brain, good nutrition, good blood circulation, good emotional balance, a real interest, a burning desire and even a love for what one wants to memorize, a flourished sexuality, a respectable financial situation, good human relations (interpersonal relations), and so on, are factors to be considered for anyone who wants to accelerate its ability to learn and memorize. It is also our goal to show how to improve these factors, mentioned in this site, at the Institute of Human Cultivation (IHC).

2) Attention and memory

Attention is the electricity of memory. The culture of attention can help you develop your memory. Here are some exercises. They will improve your attention, concentration and memory; because memory is linked to the degree of attention and concentration. A good concentration can lead to creativity and invention. Read the section: Earn money with your inventions.

Build a website that brings you success

Take a topic, a question or idea of your choice. One of them may be related to your job or your hobby. Then for a minute, think only about that subject, question or idea. Keep focused. In the beginning, this exercise may appear to be a bit difficult, depending on your real level of concentration. In the beginning, your ideas will seem to play leapfrog.

But with patience and perseverance, this exercise will be easy and even fun... But mainly useful. Because by developing your attention and your concentration, you will learn more easily and acquire a better memory. Thereafter, increase the time of this exercise as it suits you. You will then see how easy it is to think about something for a long time, your ideas won’t play leapfrog anymore. One suggestion, however, visualize your topic, questions or ideas. Visualize them in colors; give forms and movements to your thought. This is how this exercise will be most beneficial. You will be more efficient.

The mental calculation is also a good exercise of concentration and attention. Try to mentally calculate: 12x12; 1000-666; 6000:33; 1914+1918; 1939+1945. Of course these are only examples... You can find other, simpler or more difficult, depending on your abilities and your goals.

Speaking of calculation, here is another good exercise of concentration and attention. Exercise yourself to count in decreasing order from 100 to 0. (100, 99, 98... 0). Then increase the degree of difficulty by counting from 200 to 0. Etc. The degree of difficulty can also be considerably increased: skip two, three or four digits. For example, if you decide to skip two digits: (100, 98, 96... 0). Increase the level of difficulty by counting more and more quickly.

These exercises are very effective. They may very well be practiced in a bus, subway, during a walk, in your bed, and so on. But certainly not when you drive... We give the same suggestions for this exercise: visualize your digits. Visualize them in colors and give them forms and movements. This is how this exercise will be most beneficial. You will be more efficient. Some games fortify memory: memory games, chess, the checkerboard, the Warri game (for our African friends).

To enhance your concentration and your memory, you can develop your five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. From today, start to pay attention and focus on what you see, hear, smell, taste or touch. For example, look carefully at a drawing, an object, or nature, in detail. Do not be distracted. Make an effort to find more and more details; while asking to yourself what the author of that drawing, object, or nature, wanted to communicate. You will be surprised to see many details that you never seen before. You'll do amazing discoveries. From the simple act of looking, you will start to observe and scrutinize. You will learn better, and your memory will be reinvigorated.

The next time you listen to music, try to distinguish all the instruments and voices that compose it. Your attention and your memory will be more efficient. Plus, you will appreciate that music; much more. The wise says that: “Music softens the morals.” This truth is not a negligible gain. To develop your smell, taste and touch: close your eyes, and try to specify the composition and origin of what you feel or taste. Close your eyes and try to guess the objects that you touch. The objects that abound on your desk are a good start.

Observe a drawing, an object, a stranger or nature. Then try to describe or replicate what you have observed. You can describe them mentally or in writing. You can reproduce what you observe (sketch-plan or drawing). One way or another, be clear and precise (form, texture, size, position, orientation, colors, etc.) You will see how your sense of observation will increase. And consequently: your attention, concentration, learning ability, and of course... your memory.

Begin this exercise by observing yourself in a mirror. "Charity begins at home." Right? Then extend the exercise to your friend, wife, husband, co-worker, your dog or your cat, etc. If you observe carefully, you will be surprised to see many details that you missed before. And who knows; maybe you will appreciate again, for the first time, your beauty and the beauty of your relations and friends. Try and find out.

Practice those exercises of concentration and observation. Increase the degree of difficulty, reducing the observing time. With practice, effort, patience and determination, you will increase your learning abilities and the capacity of your memory. And have, if you please, an eagle's eyesight and an elephant’s memory.

From time to time, read the section below: * Prodigious memories; in order to...

3) The unconscious and memory

The unconscious can contribute to learn, memorize and remember. What is the unconscious? The unconscious is also called the subconscious. The unconscious is this part of the psychic life made of memories, desires and other psychological activities. This part of life (memories, desires and psychological activities) is not controlled by the conscious, but acts on the behavior of an individual. These memories, desires and other psychological activities, express themselves in a diversified and disguised way; in everyday life through missed acts (lapsus calami or lapsus linguae), forgetfulness, and during dreams.

We will return in more detail on the Id, the Ego, the Super-Ego, the conscious, the unconscious (personal, collective and "instinctogen"), in the section: Emotional Health (feelings, emotions, sentiments) (navigation-bar: Health).

And the web page: Sexuality ♥ (explore the nav-bar).

We'll see how physical and emotional health, sexuality, financial situation, human relations, may be linked to the health of the conscious and the unconscious.

For now, suffice it to say that the conscious and the unconscious play a major role in life; and therefore, play a major role in the learning, memorizing and recalling process. Good communication between the conscious and the unconscious is crucial during the learning process.

In fact, when we've proposed the exercise of breathing and relaxation in the section: Increase your strengths through the science of breathing, and in other sections, it was also a way to establish a communication between the conscious and the subconscious; because an idea, deeply rooted into the subconscious, is also deeply rooted in memory. In other words: you remember better and easily the facts, ideas and images rooted in your subconscious.

So before you start to learn and memorize something, open your conscious and your subconscious: wear loose clothing, loosen your belt, sit comfortably and keep your trunk right. Relax. Relax all the muscles of your body, made silence in your mind and concentrate on what you are going to do.

If you breathe in this way, you will establish the "alpha" rhythm (8 to 12 cycles per second). It means that your body, soul, mental, and emotions are relaxed. This, will open your subconscious. Breathe primarily by the nose. The nose has the property to purify and humidify the air. The air that passes through the nose will be at the right temperature.

Complete several respiratory cycles. Relax, while breathing. When you breathe, feel that you are filled with peace and deep joy. In so doing, repeat these sentences or others of your choice:

• "I am calm. I'm relaxed. I am at peace. Peace with myself and people. My body and my mind are relaxed."

• "I am strong. I will succeed in all what I do."

• Etc.

Then go ahead. Say this sentence or another of your choice:

• "I am calm. My conscious is opened. My subconscious is opened. I have an excellent memory. I will study, retain and easily remember everything that I read, see, hear and do."

Now your conscious and your subconscious are under the best conditions to learn and remember your lessons, a song, texts of a play, a speech, etc. A strong link is established between these two parts of your mind. The "alpha" rhythm (8 to 12 cycles per second) is established. This rhythm means: rest, muscle relaxation, mental relaxation and openness.

The subconscious can help you memorize when you sleep. Yes, you read well: it is possible to learn and memorize when you sleep. I can hear few voices objecting... and also some laughs. :) I understand you; correctly. But it is very serious. Let’s bet... Record your lessons, songs, lyrics, texts of a play, speeches, etc., in a tape or a CD-rom. Digital recorder are available on the market.

Set up your apparatus so that it will start when you will be deeply asleep. "Delta" rhythm characterizes that period of deep sleep. The volume of your recorder must be reasonable. That is to say: loudly enough to be heard, but low enough so that you do not wake up. Since it is during your sleep that your subconscious is most receptive, the message that you saved (language to learn; or historical, technological, geographical, scientific data, etc.), will be deeply rooted in your subconscious... in your memory. Your unconscious works while you sleep. This idea has inspired the cerebro-phone of Max Sherover.

Learn while you sleep. Yes. But to facilitate a task does not rhyme with laziness. One way or another: reasoning, thinking, attention and judgment (so, effort) remain important during the learning and memorization process.

However, this technique of tape or CD-rom can be applied when you are awake. How? Immediately after the relaxation exercise suggested above, start your tape and listen. The results are equally good. For in a state of complete relaxation, it is possible to learn and retain more quickly. This approach, brought by Georgi Lozanov, is named suggestopedia. The method is linked to suggestology. Georgi asserts that: "In two or three months, a common student learns what requires normally two years of academic studies."

Many people have tested it, it works. Try it and write us. We know that the subconscious is most receptive just before sleep and immediately after waking up. These two moments are very effective for the memorization. What you think just before you fall asleep and just after you wake up are deeply rooted in your subconscious. Therefore, these thoughts will influence your life, your attitude, your character and your future; consequently, they will determine your successes and failures.

Auto-suggestion (self-suggestion) can help you learn, memorize and remember something. Up to here, we have already practiced self-suggestion; but we did not mention the name. Auto-suggestion means: to suggest something to oneself. Things that we say to ourself (aloud, softly or mentally), will be rooted in our conscious and subconscious. Those thoughts will be deep rooted, if self-suggestion is made before sleep or immediately after waking up. The more that self-suggestion is strong, clear and precise; the more that root is strong and deep. That root is also stronger and deeper, if the appropriate physical and mental atmosphere (the creation of "alpha" rhythm we just explained), is created before starting the self-suggestion.

In that state of complete physical and mental relaxation, repeat phrases or words of your choice depending on your needs and priorities. By doing so, you are rooting these suggestions in your subconscious. These suggestions will grow and act powerfully on your body, soul, mind (intelligence), emotions, sexuality or human relations.

Positive suggestions will have positive impact; negative suggestions will have negative impacts. That is why it is strongly advised not to suggest negative ideas. It is advisable to avoid and get rid of any idea which suggests discouragement, laziness and failure.

With self-suggestion, someone can overcome: illegal drugs, smoking, alcoholism, the onychophagia (compulsive nail biting), masturbation, depression, sexual impotence, frigidity, etc. But beware! Those who have read us... studied us so far, know that problems are complex and interrelated. A problem is rarely isolated. "A train may hide another." So, be careful.

Auto-suggestion is not a panacea, as suggested by some ignorant or charlatan. Self-suggestion is simply a working tool among many others. Auto-suggestion must be applied with discretion and common sense. This is an example that illustrates what we are saying. There is no use to repeat: "I do not smoke. I do not smoke." If the act of smoking is linked to depression; and that depression is linked to a lack of employment. Finding a job will help more effectively to overcome that depression; and overcoming depression will help to stop smoking. Do you see the links?

In the same way, there is no use to repeat: "I am sexually powerful. I am sexually powerful." Or: "I am not frigid. I am not frigid." If this sexual impotence or frigidity is linked to illegal drugs, smoking or alcoholism; and the use of these illegal drugs, tobacco or alcohol is linked to depression; and that depression is linked to an emotional vacuum; and this emotional emptiness is linked to the hatred of women; and this hatred of woman is linked to the hatred of the mother.

You see?

"A train may hide another." A problem is sometimes the result of a chain reaction; a problem is sometimes a link in a chain. That chain reaction may have its origin since early childhood. For instance, a trauma induced neurosis; and the door was open to psycho-somatic diseases.

We will develop it in the section: Emotional health (feelings, emotions, sentiments), the section: Sexuality ♥, and the section: Humans relations. For now, suffice is to understand that autosuggestion can help you learn, memorize and recall something easily.

The ability to learn, memorize and recall can be improved when someone acts as if he learns, memorizes and recalls easily. To think and act as if you already have a faculty developed at a high level, can help you develop that faculty. To think, believe, act and behave as if you already have an excellent memory, can help you develop an excellent memory. This is true for memory and other brain activities. But this is also true for other virtues, habits, characters you might want to develop.

When someone thinks and acts as if he/she is healthy, as if he has a flourishing sexuality, as if he is rich, as if he has good human relations, it is possible to achieve these noble objectives quicker. To think and act as if you have: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faith (fidelity, confidence), Mildness, Self-control, can help beautify the soul. Review the section: The health of the soul. But here as elsewhere, we reiterate this: thinking and acting go hand in hand, the watchwords remain the same: practice, effort, patience and determination.

4) Mnemonic techniques and memory

Memory retains facts easily, when they are funny or original . We have said it before. For example, we are in 2007, it is easy to remember the name of the President of Russia: Mr. Putin. Think of a delicious dish: poutine. Poutine is a dish consisting of French fries, cheese grain and barbecue sauce. This dish is very popular in Quebec (a province of Canada). But the word putin! in French language is an exclamation that we advise you think twice before using it in some circumstances.

It is original and funny, isn’t it? Anyway…

In the same way, the order of the nine planets may be accepted as follows: Mister Villain, Ease My Job Search Unconditionally Now Please. Note that the beginning of each word, in capital letter, is the beginning of the name of the nine planets. Their order is respected. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. And voila!

It is original and funny, isn’t it? Anyway…

Everyone can compose mnemonic exercises; this is how they are called. Mnemonic laws help the learning process, memory and recall. We would be happy to taste your own creations. Create mnemonic exercises, and share them with other friends in this website.

Mnemonic techniques can help you learn, memorize and recall better. In simple: mnemonic techniques act as a memory-helper. We have already discussed earlier in the section: 1) How to educate your memory. To illustrate our conversation, let's take this example. You want to find out if the moon is at its first or its last quarter: just mentally draw a line between the two horns of the crescent. If you get a letter d, the moon is at its last quarter (because the leg of the letter “d” is at the right side; the last part of the circle). If you get a letter p, it is a first quarter moon (because the leg of the letter “p” is at the left side; the first part of the circle).

It's fun, Isn’t it? Anyway…

NB: For French speakers, the letter d goes with “dernier quartier” (notice the letter d of the word dernier). The letter p goes with “premier quartier” (notice the letter p of the word premier).

In the same way, to know if a month has 30 or 31 days, close your left hand and form a fist. The extremities of metacarpals form four bumps, intercalated by three hollows. Disregard the thumb. This is the rule: A bump is 31 days. A hollow is 30 days. Starting from the left, January will be the first metacarpal bump; so 31 days. February will be the hollow between the first metacarpal and the second metacarpal bump; it is 28 days. March is the bump of the second metacarpal; it is 31 days. And so on ... Go ahead, up to the fourth bump (which is July, 31 days) and return to the first bump (it is August, 31 days). The only difficulty was the month of February. But of course, you've guessed that February is 28 days.

It's funny. Isn’t it? Anyway… But it is very convenient.

If you are a teacher, teach these mnemonic techniques to your students. You'll see how they will be delighted and grateful.

* Drugs and memory

We have already seen that tea (preferably green tea), coffee (not decaf), chocolate (preferably dark chocolate), fuel memory, stimulate intellectual and physical effort. We have also proposed natural and pharmaceutical products that give strength to the body and accelerate intellectual functions. See the section: Energetic foods and miracle substances. We have strongly dissuaded the use of tobacco in all its forms, and proposed some methods and products to stop smoking. See the section: Foods and substances to avoid or moderate; see the page: Health of the body.

Now, we want to draw your attention to the dangers linked to the use of cerebral drugs. The use of cerebral drugs must be done under the supervision of a health professional. You will review the following drugs, and find that some of them are used in clinics for their therapeutic effects.

The use of drugs is rapidly increasing. Drugs are becoming more powerful and less and less expensive. We are in 2008, the age of initiation to drugs use is increasingly low (12 years); all around the world. We'll not display sad statistics regarding miseries caused by drugs. You can ask them to your Ministry of Health, your Ministry of internal affairs, your Police Service or the Crime police unit. These offices will be happy to keep you informed on the issue. What interests us here is to identify the most common and dangerous drugs known; then to show their negative effects on health and memory.

It is imperative to understand that these "substances of happiness" which lead people to artificial paradises, are in fact the anti-chamber of hell. The use of illicit drugs empty wallet, destroys health, breaks families, creates prostitution, increases the crime rate and suicide rate, etc. And regarding our conversation, some drugs paralyze memory. These are not great achievements. And anyone who wants to win many victories, will not want to write these achievements in his Diary.

Amphetamines

They are central nervous system stimulants. Benzedrine and Dexedrine are best known. These amines increase physical and mental capacities, while provoking a pleasant feeling. But the excessive use of amphetamines causes: schizophrenia (early dementia, disconnection from the environment), paranoia (trouble with reasoning and judging), decreases of appetite, illusions, hallucinations similar to the delirium tremens of an alcoholic, hepatitis, pulmonary syndromes, digestive syndromes, psychological troubles, anxious panic reactions, acute psychosis.

Barbiturates

Phenobarbital and Veronal are the most important barbiturates. They are powerful hypnotics used for tremors of multiple sclerosis, but they may aggravate nervous insomnia. Used in excess and for a prolonged time, barbiturates cause mental and neurological disorders; such as a decrease of emotions, and a pathological aggressiveness (perturbation of the temper). Barbiturates cause hallucinations, paralysis, perturbation of intellectual functions and coma. Barbiturates can disrupt sleep, disrupt cyclical structure of sleep, modify brain waves, and reduce dreams frequency. Barbiturates cause liver and kidney damage, pain (pseudo-rheumatism), rashes and itching, etc. Even if barbiturate is used therapeutically to cure nervous insomnia, excessive use of barbiturate may cause insomnia.

Cocaine

Discovered in 1860, cocaine is the main alkaloid of coca leafs or coca tree (Erythroxylon Coca). Cocaine is used therapeutically as an analgesic. It fights rhinitis, ulcerations of the pharynx or the mouth, angina pains, laryngitis, pruritus. Cocaine is a white powder that can be sniffed or injected. Ingestion of 0.50 grams of cocaine is fatal. Three phases characterize the effect of cocaine: a phase of euphoria (with a diminution of inhibitions); a phase of confusion (with visual hallucinations); and a phase of drowsiness.

Chronic use of cocaine is characterized by: weight loss; poor memory; emotional troubles; swing mood; nervous disorders (with tics); anxiety; physical, intellectual and emotional problems, etc.

Cosmic Joy for Mood Enhancement. Click on: Cosmic Joy - Mood, on your right. Overcome fear, depression, anguish, anxiety; optimize your mood.

Opium

Poppy capsules (the white poppy) Papaver somniferum album, give opium (thick latex). From opium, alkaloids are produced: derivatives of morphine (heroin, codeine, papaverine, thebaine, narceine), which are hypnotics and analgesics. And derivatives of narcotine (laudanosine and narcotine), which are sedatives and tranquilizers.

As long as an opium addict smokes its pipes, his imagination is ignited, he is flooded by a contemplative joy, a voluptuous calm possess him. But when he is not smoking, he moves and speaks little; he seems tired; very tired.

Heroin is a derivative of morphine. Heroin is three times stronger than morphine. Heroin can be sniffed or injected. Except for therapeutic use, opium, morphine and heroin are very dangerous. Consumers of these drugs, law makers and law enforcers know that.

Hashish

The word hashish derives from Arabic hachîch which means grass. Hashish is also known as kif, ganja, hay, etc. Leaves and female inflorescences of Indian hemp (Cannabis sativa) give hashish (resin extract). Hashish can be smoked or chewed.

When smoked or chewed, the “hachischman” experiences euphoria; then follow an intellectual excitement, with exaggeration of feelings and ideas dissociation (his imagination catches fire); followed by a change in his perception of time and space; then a modification of his auditory sensation, with musical acuity; then come fixed ideas, generally suggested by the outside world; followed by a overexcitement of his emotions and sentiments; then come impulses, often linked to suggestions; followed by delusions and hallucinations. Chronic hachischism can lead to madness.

Marijuana

This variety of hemp, similar to Indian hemp, is smoked in North America. In excess, marihuana or marijuana (Mari-Juana) is toxic. It can weaken the immune system, cause genetic damage (chromosomal breaks). Marijuana causes the same effects and the same troubles than hashish.

Peyote

In central and northern Mexico, lives a curious small cactus. Echinocactus Williamsii This is his name. This cactus gives the following alkaloids: peyotine, mescaline, anhalamine, anhalonidine, lophophorine, anahlonine. These alkaloids induce drunkenness and colorful hallucinations. By closing his eyes, a “peyotlman” can see these vivid colors. It is not surprising that Indians tribes in Mexico have nicknamed it "The plant that amazes eyes."

L.S.D.

These are the initials of Lysergic Sauer Diäthylamid (acid diethylamide d-lysergic). It is also an abbreviation of Lysergamide. The L.S.D. is a very strong drug, discovered by Hofmann from Sandox laboratories. This semi-synthetic substance is extracted from the ergot of rye. LSD causes euphoria, colorful visions, and gives the impression of traveling through time. A kaleidoscope of images and fantastic scenes of past life appear to the “LSDman”. His world is filled with brilliant and changing colors.

We understand why LSD is nicknamed: "The atomic bomb of the brain."

Eventually, the conscience of a LSDman may be dissolved. His personality also may be dissolved. Schizophrenia is possible; just as physiological and psychological disorders, vomiting, tremors, respiratory and neurological disorders, a desire for self destruction, suicidal ideation, comatose states, chromosomal alterations (breaking of genes), etc. LSD is very dangerous, mainly because it is not expensive. It is not easy to get out of LSD hell.

P.C.P.

Also called phencyclidine, or "angel dust". This drug is more powerful than LSD. A furious and irresistible desire to demolish everything, possess those who take PCP. A physiological insensitivity possesses them.

Ecstasy

This drugs is famous in evening raves. Ravers say that ecstasy helps them break the ice and get closer, in order to socialize. Many people say that ecstasy is a powerful aphrodisiac. Ecstasy is more consumed than cocaine and heroin. NB: the verb rave means also: to talk wildly or furiously in or as in delirium. The noun rave means also: an evening party where drug is on the menu.

Let’s sum up

We did not cover all drugs and narcotics of the 21 st century. You agree. One of the reasons why we say this is: we know that many clandestine laboratories are at work. Many researchers are working in the shadows, in secret. Their motto is: "More powerful drugs, drugs with short time effects, less and less expensive drugs." Their goal is to get rich at any price, even at the expense of their neighbor’s health. No, we did not cover all drugs and narcotics of the 21 st century. Alas! No doubt that you will find many others. For this purpose, do your own research. But we say one thing: "Anyone who wants to fight and succeed, has to stay away from these artificial paradises; antechambers of hell."

Parents or educators have the right and duty to observe their children. Repeated fugues, exaggerated pessimism, poor school performances, psychosomatic disorders, anguish, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempt, etc., are sometimes calls for help. These signs may indicate that drugs and narcotics are at work. We repeat this: >"Anyone who wants to fight and succeed, has to stand clear of these artificial paradises; antechambers of death."

It is possible to overcome a tolerance and an addiction to narcotics. The Institute of Human Cultivation (ICH) provides the public with powerful tools; efficient knowledge that helps take control and get rid of drugs. You see, because the immoderate and excessive use of drugs is sometimes linked with more complex problems. Do we need to repeat it? "One train may hide another." In other words, drugs use is sometime a link in a long chain.

There is always a cause rooted deep, a primary cause that can be triggered by a specific situation. It is necessary to go at the source of the problem, the root of the problem. The difficulty is that the primary cause is most often ignored by a drug user. The primary cause is buried deep in his subconscious (unconscious), but continues to act forcefully without his knowledge. Drugs and others artificial paradises become derivatives; with those masks, that person tries to forget a repressed reality. A painful and hidden reality that acts without the knowledge of the person concerned; this painful and hidden reality may cause neuroses, and push someone to make costly mistakes.

But there is always a way out. Every problem has a solution, or several solutions. A solution is not difficult to find. The most difficult is to observe oneself and watch oneself living, honestly; to realize that there is a problem, and decide to find a solution. To want or not to want to find a solution... that is the question.

In search of a solution, you must never stick to one approach. That is why we suggest several approaches, throughout our conversation. Read the section: Two words on diseases and healing (see it at: Emotional Health (feelings, emotions, sentiments)).

* Memory diseases

The use of drugs, tobacco, alcohol; poor diet; poor hygiene of the body, soul and spirit; genetic problems; a psychological shock, and so on, can cause memory diseases. We will develop in turn: amnesia, paramnesia and hypermnesia.

* Amnesia: the reduction or complete loss of memory.

Amnesia of fixation. The subject can not memorize. Fixation amnesia can be congenital (cretinism, idiocy), or progressive (senile dementia), or sudden (diseases, psychological or moral causes).

Amnesia of evocation. The subject can not remember. Evocation amnesia may be general (the subject no longer knows if he is married or has children) or partial (the subject can not remember his name).

Amnesia of recognition. The subject no longer recognizes familiar objects. The amnesia of recognition can be motor (the person forgot knows how to hold a fork or to dress alone), or perceptive (if the subject no longer recognizes objects that he sees, it is the mental blindness. If the subject no longer interprets sounds, it is the psychic deafness).

Asymbolia and aphasia can be linked to amnesia. In asymbolia, the subject no longer understands the meaning of things, like the symbolism of musical notes. In motor aphasia, the subject has forgotten what it takes to articulate words. The verbal deafness is the loss of meaning of words heard. In agraphia, the subject no longer knows how to write. In verbal blindness or alexia the subject no longer knows how to read.

* Paramnesia: the illusion of already seen or heard. It's a perception disorder, not a memory disease.

Hypermnesia constitutes an exaggeration of the ability to recall. This is an example: the case of a feverish child who told in minute detail, the operation (trepanation) he had at the age of 4 years; an operation he had never been toll about. This is another example: the case of an idiot (medical idiocy) who remember the exact name and age of people who died for 35 years; and also remember the name of those who led the mourning of each burial. Hypermnesia is particularly interesting, because it can be linked with phenomenal memories; the amazing ability to remember that we will develop in the section: * Prodigious memories.

But hypermnesia also interests us in connection with the subconscious (the unconscious). Is the subconscious the seat of memory? Is everything we have seen, heard, say, and thought since our birth in our subconscious? Is the ability to remember means: the ability to take information from the subconscious? We have already started to discuss it in the section: 3) The unconscious and memory. However, the exploration of the subconscious can be useful and necessary, when someone wants to harmonize his personality. In this regard, read below the section: Emotional health (feelings, emotions, sentiments). And the section: Sexuality ♥.

* The treatment of amnesia

Dear friend, we wish you good health. That is why we give you this advice: "For all your health problems, take the time to talk with a health care professional. We know that the useful information that we share with you is tried and tested. The products that we are proposing are very powerful. It is true. But this is not a substitute for the treatment of your health care professional. But in many cases, our useful information and our powerful products will complete and accelerate the treatments. That being said, you should perhaps adjust certain things before undertaking whatever it may be. It is because of this we repeat: take the time to talk with a health care professional".

The following are given as information

Allopathic medicine and homeopathic medicine can easily overcome some memory weaknesses. But we must repeat it: a robust memory is also linked to health: The health of the body (good nutrition, regular physical education, etc.); the health of the soul, the spirit (mental, intelligence); emotional health (feelings, emotions, sentiments); sexual health (healthy sexuality); financial health (the improvement of financial situation); relational health (pleasant human relations and interpersonal relations). These are truths that we provide you with on this site.

Allopathic and homeopathic medicine

• Endocrine products (hormone) can improve memory. We are talking about testosterone, the male hormone. But people having prostate cancer condition should refrain. Take note that testosterone can boost sexuality, by increasing sexual desire and erectile strength. We will talk about that in the section: Sexuality ♥. The pituitary hormone, the thyroid hormone (thyroxine) can improve memory.

• The H3 (acidic solution of procaine, derived from novocaine) developed by the doctor Anna Aslam, regenerates memory and increases physical strength.

• Iodine (iodized albumin) strengthens memory.

• Vitamins improve memory. Please read the section: E) Vitamins and memorization. And review the Table 1: Canada's Food Guide; Table 2: The Energy Value of Foods; and Table 3: Vitamins and Minerals. • Royal jelly, pollen, ribonucleic acid, deoxyribonucleic acid and adenosine triphosphate, improve memory. Read the section above: Energizing foods and miracle substances.

• The leaves of La petite pervenche (Vinca Minor) vaso-dilate, vaso-regulate, oxygenate and increase blood circulation in the brain. La petite pervenche improves memory.

• Oxygenotherapy improves memory. As a complement please read the section: Air and water quality

Acupuncture and memory

Acupuncture is a method of treatment (Chinese origin), which involves the implantation of needles into specific points of the body surface. This approach can overcome many physical and mental diseases. Acupuncture has been proven at international level. However, avoid acupuncture in cases of infectious arthritis and fever. Precautions must be taken for neurotonic people (people with too much nervous sensitivity). The best thing to do is to consult a health professional who is familiar with acupuncture and traditional Western medicine.

As we will detail it in the section: Two words on diseases and healing (see it at: Emotional Health (feelings, emotions, sentiments)), when someone want to be healed, it is wise to cautiously consider all medical approaches available to mankind. One therapeutic approach can overcome an illness that another approach could not overcome. When it comes to be healthy, people must leave aside prejudices.

Let's say in open conclusion that amnesia, like any other disease, can be of physical or psychological origin. It is convenient to know that when you want to be healed, it is not always efficient to stick to a single therapeutic approach. We explain at greater length in the section: Two words on diseases and healing (see the web page Health, and select: Emotional Health (feelings, emotions, sentiments). With great caution and common sense, someone must use his good judgment and explore all different approaches that civilizations have provides us with. Here, "all" means "all". Then the healing process will smiles, in its time, if someone must be healed...

* Prodigious memory

The cardinal Giuseppa Gaspero Mezzofanti could speak 54 languages.

Dr. Fred Braums spoke 15 languages and had learned 200 000 dates of the Universal History.

Jean Racine could recite tragedies (play), after having read once or twice.

In India, scholars can recite by heart the 1000 songs (about 10 000 stanzas) of the Rig-Veda.

Heinrich Heineken, at 10 months age, knew by name all the objects of his entourage. He could recite texts in prose and verse. At 15 months, he studied history. At 2 years age he studied Latin and French. At age 4 he knew the ancient and modern history, and geography. He knew how to write and could recite 1 400 sentences of good Latin authors. Heinrich Heineken died at 4 years and 4 months.

William Rowan Hamilton read the Bible at 3 years age. He had learned to read alone. At 5 years age he knew Greek, Hebrew and Latin. At 7 years, Italian and French. At age 9, he learned nine other languages.

Professor A.C. Aitken could recite the first 2 000 decimal number of pie (Π), and instantly quote any of those decimals.

Miss Osaka could mentally calculate the 6 th root of 402 520 747 482 776 576. But also mentally calculate the square root of the same number. And also the 10 th power of 55. She could multiply mentally 624 987 x 2 358 and give the right answer.

Veniamin, remembered everything. Strictly speaking, his memory had no limit. According to Professor A.R. Luria, of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, who studied this Polish. He could easily memorize thousands of complicated texts and remember them 15 years later. His huge memory recalls anything at any time. From memory, no one had yet achieved such feats.

This example are proves that memory is able to accumulate memorable information. Therefore, let us be confidence in our memory. Let’ train it diligently, nourish it properly and put it to the test.

A phenomenal memory... Hum. It makes people dream, doesn’t it? But let’s come back to our sheeps. I do not know if you are like me. But in my case, I have a fair memory that I continue to strengthen with the principles that I share with you at this website. My goal is to have a prodigious memory. And I will.

As we have already said, memory is associated with intelligence. In fact, what is intelligence? "It's the ability to bring new solutions to new problems." According to this definition, it is clear that whoever has a good memory is able to retain a lot of data, and therefore, able to combine these data and extract useful solutions. Hence the need to take care of your memory. To develop memory is a guarantee of success. A powerful memory opens doors to success and happiness. Many great men have had an excellent memory. "Memory is necessary for all operations of the mind." It's Blaise Pascal who said it.

* Some advice for parents and educators

The education of memory begins very early; during childhood. I should say: the education of memory begins in the mother’s womb. Because when an expecting mother takes care of her physical, mental and emotional health, she takes care of the health of her offspring. A mother who takes drugs, smokes, drinks too much alcohol, eats poorly, is too stressed, and so on, doesn’t take care of her unborn child. The baby, once born, could have defects that would have been avoided. These anomalies may affect the body (monstrosity, malformation, etc.); but also affect the mind (memory, intelligence, emotions, etc.).

That is why we encourage our readers to apply the suggestions that we provide you with in this site. Children’s memory can and must be educated early. A health professional (preferably a psychologist), can suggest you some methods and games (memory games) that promote the mental development of your child.

Firstly, children’s memory is real (memory of things); because it applies to sensitive facts that he sees, hears, touches, smells, tastes, etc. Those are facts that his mind remembers and represents to itself, in their concrete complexity. Then children’s memory becomes verbal (memory of recitation). Progresses in verbal memory follow those of speech, reading and writing. Then appears intellectual memory (memory of intelligence and reasoning). It is the memory of ideas, judgments and reasoning.

Be careful about the use and interpretation of memory tests. For the child’s memory is in constant transformation, like the child himself. But it is already possible to determine the type of memory of a child, and even possible to help him develop other types of memory. Hearing and motor memory (throat): the child retains better what he pronounces. Visual and motor memory (hand): the child retains better what he reads and writes. Mixed memory is the sum of the two previous type of memory. One way or another, help your child to grow all these forms of memory. All these types of memories are interrelated and help each other. Read above what we said on different forms of memory.

How to educate children's memory

It is essential to stimulate the motivation of a child; in the field of studies but also in any other domain of life. Desire and motivation are the essence of intellectual faculties. All intellectual faculties including: intelligence, creativity, endurance, and of course memory. This is also true for adults. Please read the section: 1. Learning to stimulate your desire.

If a child doesn’t see (or does understand) the importance of what he learns, he will not learn it. Period. And he is right. If I was in his place, I would do the same thing; maybe even more. What about you? Why use our intelligence at our expense? Therefore, before each activity, take time to motivate the learner. Awake his desire to learn. Take time to make him understand the importance of his activity. Tell him what will be the benefits in the short, medium and long term. Obviously this foretaste of his activities will be adjusted to his age, intelligence, personality and needs.

For the youngest pupils, the promise of an ice cream, biscuits or his favorite TV show will be enough to motivate them. But the more a child grows, the more he understands. At that time, he will have to understand that his activities are not a game; even if it is amusing sometime. He will have to understand that he is building his life, his future. He will have to understand that he has to do all his homework, with or without a promise of a reward.

For children, the memory of things (memory of reality that we just talked about) must be developed in priority. We have seen that children have different kinds of memories and personality. Therefore they learn differently. However, it is necessary to help them develop all other forms of memory that we have just discussed. Children must be able to use simultaneously all these forms of memory; adults also by the way.

Education must closely links the study of things to words. A child must understand what he has to learn before learning it. He will learn and remember better what he has understood. To learn "by heart" is not always the best way to learn; unless the goal is to develop memory. And even so, memory is more accurate when someone learns subjects that were understood. Learning "by heart," doesn’t help to grasp the logical relationship between things. With an effort of reflection, a child must understand the meaning and scope of what he is studying.

Children like to work their memory of reality (memory of things) and their verbal memory (memory of recitation), because it costs less effort than working his intellectual memory (intelligence and reasoning). To minimize their intellectual effort, children love to transform school exercises into memory and recitation exercises. It is not always the right thing to do. Once again, it is essential to ensure that the pupil has understood the meaning of all the words and expressions that he is learning; because in science or letter, the richness of vocabulary is crucial in understanding facts.

Literal recitation is a very good memory exercise. Literal recitation helps children to learn, think, speak, write and gives them a taste of a language. Literal recitation excites the intellect and helps acquire an instinctive logic.

Dictation is a great way to enrich the spelling of a child; in addition to develop visual, auditory and motor memory. Dictation develops attention and memory.

Tape recorder and computer are very good learning tools. Regarding the implementation of the tape recorder (Max Sherover’s cerebograph), please read the section: 3) The unconscious and memory. Some educational software can help children to understand, learn and memorize their lessons efficiently.

But instead of using a tape recorder, you may want to suggest some qualities to your child; qualities that you want him to acquire. The suggestion can be done when a child is awake, or while he is sleeping. Softly, slowly, tenderly, repeat in his ear a sentence like: "You understand all your lessons. You quickly learn all your lessons. You easily memorize all your lessons. You have a good memory. You can easily remember all your lessons." It is appropriate to pronounce the name of the child at the beginning of each sentence. Obviously you can compose other sentences depending on the needs of your child.

This technique is autosuggestion that we have already mentioned before. Autosuggestion is a very powerful tool. But it is a double-edged sword. Because the subconscious (the unconscious) doesn’t sort ideas that you suggest to him; the subconscious accept any ideas, whether these ideas are virtuous or vicious. In other words: to repeat to a child that he is an idiot, can make that suggestion come true; very quickly. It doesn’t matter if a child hears the suggestion during his sleep or when he is awake.

A suggestion made during sleep is more powerful. Such suggestion penetrates the subconscious faster and remains longer in it; especially the subconscious of a child. We heard some educators telling to their kids: "Idiot, you worth nothing!" And later on, soon, these same educators will be surprised that their child worth nothing; indeed. In French language, the word “idiot” can be translated as “tête de mule”: which means “head of mule” (a mule being the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse; or the reverse). In this specific example, these educators will probably be relieved because their child would have kept the same head...

Let’s be careful about what we say and do to children; and also what we say or do in front of them. Many parents and educators destroy the mind of children, sometimes not on purpose. But the result remains the same.

Regarding the learning process, Jean Piaget gave us interesting data on children. We invite you to read this psychologist. But like all other readings, be careful. The panacea is sometimes the result of several readings; different readings and even opposed readings. If we express criticism of Jean Piaget’s work, we would say that this famous psycho-educator has studied western children; mainly.

But we know this: "Although all children of the world have some common behaviors, which include their psychology, the children’s psychology differs in many respects...

That is why we say this: the work of Piaget, although useful to all children, is incomplete; because human nature, like Human Culture, is diversified and complex. Human nature can and must be cultivated. "We will return in more detail in the section: Family relationships (husband and wife, parents and children).

To form a child’s also means: to monitor the way he associates his ideas. The educator must ensure that the way a child associates his ideas is not misleading and irrelevant; because the associations of ideas influences affection, emotions and sensitive intelligence. Children’s physical and mental health depends in part on the kind of associations of ideas that we teach them to make. This is also true for adults.

It is appropriate and advisable to educate a child to control his ideas, to control the way he associates his ideas; because soon he will be in contact with friends, media, employees and other components of society. This close or distant entourage will suggest him many ideas (directly or indirectly), and he will have to be careful about the way he associates those ideas. We repeat: "The subconscious of children is very permeable. And children are very influenceable."

That is why the kind of reading, film, conversation, and so on, that they come in contact with, will model them. They will become responsible or irresponsible citizens; people above any suspicion or offenders; delicate or indelicate creatures.

A society that promotes crime, violence, immorality and amorality, should not be surprised that its citizens become bandits, violent, immoral and amoral. A society that promotes sexual immorality (adultery, fornication, sexual deviations, etc.), should not be surprised that family’s structure is deteriorating. Moral is linked to morality. Moral sense is the ability to distinguish good from evil. We know that in psychiatry, a trouble of the moral conscience exists in some perverse and antisocial individuals.

That's why at the Institute of Human Cultivation (IHC), in this site, we propose an approach. Properly understood and properly applied, that approach can help train citizens; citizens above suspicion. Effort, honesty, openness and self-esteem are also virtues that every educator should strive to teach to children and adults. An immoral and amoral society is built on sand. Fragile Foundation. You will agree.

The decline of great empires that have preceded us, was also provoked by their moral decline: the explosion of the family structure. For our information, 6 great empires have preceded us: the Egyptian empire, Assyrian empire, Babylonian empire, Medo-Persian empire, Greco-Macedonian empire and Roman empire. The seventh empire, the Anglo-Saxon empire, dominates today. We are in 2007. The rise or fall of a civilization is also determined by his state of health.

Liberty does not mean libertinage. Freedom is not synonymous with vagrancy. In his book: Long Walk to Freedom (Fayard Editions), Nelson Mandela has said a lot... has done a lot. The scope of a civilization is linked to its spiritual scope. Its survival also... To that end, please read the section: Health of the soul

It is convenient to instruct and educate children early. Instruction means: a head well filled. Education means: a head well made. Montaigne has said, "Better a head well made than a head well filled." The wisdom of the wise is to use wisely few knowledge that he has, and not to accumulate tons of data at his expense. Memory and intelligence is a tandem. It is the flagship of instruction and education.

"These suggestions help keep the brain young and develop memory."

We saw that in order to maximize the intellectual performance, it is important to eat well. That is to say: to eat well qualitatively and quantitatively. To eat well also means: to absorb the daily energy needed.

Review your Food Journal; you created it in the section: Increase your strengths through the science of nutrition. See: Health of the body.

Review it in the light of data provided above in: Table 4: Daily energy needs; Table 1: Canada's Food Guide; Table 2: The energy value of food, and the Table 3: Vitamins and minerals.

Now, do you absorb the daily energy required in order to be healthy? To eat well means: to put yourself in the necessary conditions that allow you to achieve great things; in others words, to win many victories (physical, mental, emotional, sexual, financial, familial, friendship, professional, spiritual, and so on).
