Our Institute was also founded for those who want to earn more money, to become rich, in order to enjoy financial freedom. Because money can bring success and happiness. But we also want to talk with those who, after an erroneous education, a bad experience or improper companionship, have come to have an aversion to money; have come to wrongly hate money, this powerful tool for human development. A powerful tool? Certainly! But a double-edged tool, like any other tool. Simply put, we mean that money is a double-edged sword. Money can bring happiness or misfortune. All depends on the maturity of the person who uses it. Importance-of-money It is possible and even advisable to improve your financial situation, to become rich, to free yourself from economic constraints, to be successful and enjoy happiness. Importance-of-money: Sweet story Let me tell you a story. On a warm July afternoon in 2006, I was walking along a path with a friend, and we decided to have a drink in a bistro. We were chatting away, talking of this and that, when we started talking about money. When I told him my point of view, “making money to be free of financial trouble is necessary”, my friend promptly answered, “Money is the Devil”. I was so surprised that I almost dropped my store teeth. At first, I thought he was kidding. Don’t laugh. :) He explained his reasoning... this made me think. For my part, I thought it important to let him know that, “money is a tool like any other. Its use can be corrupted. It’s true. But used wisely and cautiously, money can be a great source of happiness; thus the importance of having enough.” I let him know that, “to live in poverty is a serious handicap.” The day passed and it was time to go our separate ways. “I need money” My friend told me. He needed to borrow money, which I lent him eagerly. Out of politeness, and respect for him, I omitted to say anything about our earlier conversation... Let's move on. Importance-of-money: A paradox The sentence of another friend also remained in my memory. He said, and I quote: "More money, more problems." For French speakers, the translation is: «Plus d'argent, plus de problčmes.» In the French language, the meaning of this sentence seems twofold, because the word “more” may mean “in a grater degree,” or it may mean, “no money.” No matter what breadth or sense these words took in my friend's mind, we affirm and maintain, "It is good to be financially free. Importance-of-money ans free choice However, we are sympathetic with those who have decided, in maturity and integrity, to live in poverty. We think especially of those who have made a vow of poverty: some monks, Buddhist priest, gurus, priests, nuns, mystics, philosophers, etc. But notice that these people, in their vow of poverty, do have the basic needs. These people have food, drink, clothing, housing, etc. They have what it take to live decently. When the decision to live in poverty is authentic, we must respect that; because in that case, the person who is living in poverty has no regrets. He / she is not invaded by feelings of guilt (sentiments of guilt), sentiments of inferiority (feelings of inferiority), fear, anguish, anxiety, remorse, and does not show pathological aggressiveness. Without rancor, frustration, bitterness and regret, this kind of person is free from some psychological conflicts and some neuroses. Such a being has found its way; he/she assume his/her choice. Again, in this case it is: a deliberate choice, well reflected and full of maturity. In this case their "job" is a praiseworthy vocation; a vocation above all suspicion. To these people we say: "Congratulations!" And from the bottom of our heart, we wish them the best of both worlds. Importance-of-money and financial freedom How many people achieve their financial freedom? Here is what statistics (2004) say about 100 people who start working at the age of 25 years. When these people are close to 65: * 1% will be rich * 4% will have adequate capital for a decent retirement * 3% will be still working * 63% will depend on Social Security, charities or relatives * 29% will be dead If our calculation is correct, only 5% will be financially free. These statistics are for rich countries. Now, imagine those for poor countries... The importance-of-money is obvious. Let’s not have any resentment towards these "happy-fews". Let’s not be jealousy of them or be bitter. After all, everything is maybe in its right place; if there is a right place for everything... Did someone or something decide about our birth, its location and time? Do we have an influence on our birth, its location and time? The debate is open. As adults, these beings will behave according to what have been dictated to their unconscious. Vis-ŕ-vis the money, they will have a wrong attitude; because their desire to have more money has been reduced, if not extinguished; because a wrong education had repressed or rejected that desire. As a result they may suffer from a lack of money; but avoid having more. Importance-of-money and fear of money These people, although living in poverty (suffering from that poverty), avoid talking about the possibility and the necessity of improving their financial situation. The word money makes them afraid. These people have developed an aversion to money. They are afraid of money, while experiencing the need to have some. This unconscious conflict may be a source of neuroses and complexes. As a result, it is not surprising that these adults live in an unintended poverty; and sometime during their all live. In other words, following an erroneous education, these beings will have come empty-handed in this world; and leave empty-handed. Let’s refuse to be a looser. Re-educate this state of mind; earn more money and be wise, succeed and be happy. All this happened because their parents or educators fail (did not know or couldn’t) to make them understand these simple facts: "Money is not the root of all the evils. Everything depends on how you use it. It is essential to be financially free. It is necessary to make more money, in order to fully enjoy life. Money can not buy happiness. But money can contribute to happiness." Parents and educators have the duty and responsibility to educate their children, while giving them the wisdom to not become slaves to money. The conventional wisdom says: "Money is a good servant but a bad master." So reflect. Reflect on these powerful money quotes. But above all, see the importance-of-money, act while there is still time. Bad experiences may prevent to see the importance-of-money In other cases, a bad experience or bad companionship may make someone have aversion for money. Thus, some people refuse to improve their financial situation. The bad experiences can be: bankruptcy, business failure, company failure, unwise investment, etc. Another conventional wisdom says: "Think before acting". This is true. Importance-of-money: business obeys to Laws But in order to think efficiently, it is necessary to have proper tools for reflection. Small, medium or large business field is a ruthless field. This field is governed by specific laws; by the laws of business or commerce, to be precise. Business is a science (economic sciences are taught in school). But business also obeys another law; a more indelicate law: The law of the jungle. Of course, having the burning desire to improve your financial situation is a very good start. It is the prerequisite and the basis. But this prerequisite is not enough. The improvement of a financial condition obeys to laws, like all other themes we develop in this site. Some people failed to earn more money, because they did not take time to learn, understand and judiciously implement trade laws. Having failed to achieve their goal, these people have become bitter towards businesses and people around them; while the key to the puzzle lies in ignorance coupled with a bad organization. Actually you can not hide something from yourself. Second: underline or highlight all concerns, problems, preoccupations and desires related to money (the concerns, problems, preoccupations and desires solvable by money). For instance: projects, debts, shopping, health issues, eyeglasses, dentist, holidays, travel, gifts, etc. Take your time. But do not waste time. Once again, time is money. Go slowly. Quietly not fast; because this part of our conversation is crucial. Now that your list is established, what do you see? Importance-of-money: Test result You don’t have to tell me. From here, I can not "see" your list; it is easy to understand why. But this is not the most important. The most important is that you have in hand a list of your concerns, problems, preoccupations and desires, on one hand.
