The health of the body is a top priority. A robust or fragile body depends in part on you. That depends on your knowledge about its functioning. But it also depends on your willingness to enforce the laws and rules governing its proper functioning.

A robust and healthy body is a major asset, for anyone who wants to succeed and enjoy happiness in life. In our website, health and body issues are discussed and solved. Actually this website should be also your body health guide.

One can have a vigorous and robust body at a relatively advanced age, but also a weak and tired body in the prime of life. The soul lives into the body. It is obvious that the health of the soul is linked to that of the body. And vice versa: Mind-body-spirit-health. A healthy body is resistant and able to provide useful work.

Good health is a component of success and happiness. In this section we will show you how to acquire, develop and maintain a healthy body in an alimentary perspective.

How to eat properly: health-of-body

This section could have been titled: health and body nutritional information… and solutions. Poor diet (quantitative and/or qualitative) can cause physical illnesses such as: thinness, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, cancers, etc.); nervous disorders such as: depression, nervousness, lack of will, extreme frustration, anguish, anxiety, and so on.); physical and nervous fatigue.

Poor eating lead to: lack of energy of the body and mind, unflourished sexuality, preterm labor, preterm delivery, female and male infertility, poor memory, etc.

To eat well helps avoid health hazards. During our nutrition studies, we have experienced the facts that you are going to read. As a microbiologist, our approach is scientific. Our knowledge is rooted in experience.

The nutrition (food science) has made tremendous progress. By showing the best way to eat, nutrition helps strengthen health and helps maintain the appropriate body Ph balance.

As you read this commentary, especially keep an eye on Table 1: Canada's Food Guide. This table is simple. The menu will whet your appetite. It includes four food groups:

• Fruits and vegetables

• Cereals

• Milk and dairy products

• Meats


Health-of-Body: The Canada's food guide

The Canada's food guide for healthy eating tells us that: to be healthy, we should eat lots of cereal products; much more than all other three food groups. That is why on the table 1, cereal products are shown on the top of the others three food groups. It is not surprising: cereal products (fruits and vegetables also), facilitate digestion, help to avoid cancers, etc. See the section below: The importance of good digestion.

Once you have tasted fruits that stem from thoughtful nutrition and died, you will no longer do without fruits and vegetables; you will cherry cereal products too. Today, you can find natural juices of fruits and vegetables.

Regularly, I drink natural juice made of 10 kinds of fruits and vegetables. Personally, this natural juice makes me feel good. :) However, you can liquefy your favorite fruits and vegetables with an appropriate device.


"An apple a day, keeps the doctor away."


That Canada's food guide, also suggests us to eat enough fruits and vegetables (second group). On the Table 1, fruits and vegetables are shown below cereal products. Fruits and vegetables have approximately the same virtues as cereal products (first group). Actually, 50% of our meal should be grain products, fruits and vegetables.

Then, to a lesser extent, we should consume milk and dairy products (third group)

To a plus lesser extent, meat and alternatives (fourth group).


2) The energy value of foods: health-of-body

See above. Table 2: The Energy Value of Foods. Foods have different nutritional values and energy. The composition of a nutrient (fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamins, minerals, chemicals, etc.), reflect its nutritional value. The energy value of foods is measured in calories. 1 calorie is the quantity of heat required to raise 1 gram of water by 1 degree Celsius. For your information:

• 1 gram of lipid (fat, butter) = 9 calories

• 1 gram of protein (meat) = 4 calories

• 1 gram of carbohydrate (sugar) = 4 calories

On average, every day, a healthy adult needs 400 grams of carbohydrate (sugar), 100 grams of protein (meat), and 69 grams of lipid (butter, animal or vegetable fat). The energy calculation is as follow:

• Lipid: 69 grams x 9 calories = 621 calories

• Protein: 100 grams x 4 calories = 400 calories

• Carbohydrate: 400 grams x 4 calories = 1600 calories

For a grand total of 2621 calories. Let's round it to 2500 calories. These 2500 calories per day, cover the maintenance ration we discuss below in the section: Increase your strengths through the science of nutrition.

These values are averages. Because daily requirements may vary depending on the gender, size, age, level of activity, occupation, medical condition (health), and so on.

Take note that those daily 400 grams of carbohydrate (sugar) come from various nutritional sources. Please, do not consume 400 grams of table sugar. Why tempt diabetes?

NOTE: This is an average for a healthy adult. Each amount vary according to: gender, size, age, level of activity, occupation, medical condition and so on.



3) The daily energy needs varies according to: gender, size, age, level of activity, occupation, medical condition and so on: health-of-body

The daily energy need varies from person to person. As we just said, choose your food according to your nutritional and energy needs. Choose them according to your gender, size, age, level of activity, occupation, medical condition, and so on. Child, adult, senior, high-level lover of sport, pregnant women, nursing mother, diabetic, hypertensive, student, and so on, have special diet. The nutritional and energy value of their diet is different.

Indeed, in the section: Increase your strengths through the science of nutrition, we show a simple way to set up your Food Journal and calculate your daily energy quantity; from your diet. You will know if you consume the amount of calories needed in your case. If you can not establish your diet by yourself, talk to a health professional: nutritionist, dietitian, doctor, sports doctor, pharmacist, etc.


The table below gives you an idea of the amount of energy that nutrition expects of you.

But the nutritional value and the energy value of foods are linked. In simple, choose your foods according to your nutritional and energy needs. Eating blindly may be hazardous.


4) The food composition of vitamins and minerals: health-of-body

Keep an eye on the table above. Table 3: Vitamins and minerals. The daily requirements for vitamins and minerals vary also depending on: gender, size, age, level of activity, occupation, medical condition and so on.


One day, I was talking with a friend about the importance of vitamins and minerals. Much to my surprise, I heard this: "I do not take medication." I realized that my friend had a vague idea about vitamins and minerals.

From the following, I let you compare and reflect by yourself…

A medication is a controlled substance used in the treatment of diseases or injuries.

A vitamin is a substance essential (indispensable, necessary) to the organism. Vitamins and minerals exist in some foods, and the human body can not synthesize them. The rat synthesizes its own vitamin C. But this is an exception that proves the rule.

In simple terms let's say that: to be healthy, the body needs all necessary vitamins and minerals, in specific quantities, on a daily basis. Not enough vitamins and minerals, or too much, can lead to illness and even cause death.

Of course, with a good diet (quantitative and qualitative), you might not need to take vitamin and mineral supplements. But we know that many people eat poorly, either through ignorance or lack of money, or for other reasons. One way or another, it is recommended to take supplements of vitamins and minerals. In fact, high-level sport lover, hard workers, intellectuals, and so on, might need an extra dose of vitamins and minerals to succeed.

Nutritional science, confirmed by our own experiences, advises this: to take all vitamins and minerals at the same time, from A to Z. Indeed, multi-vitamins and multi-minerals have to be taken at the same time. Because, some vitamins help other vitamins work better, the same goes for minerals. Actually, all vitamins and minerals are interlinked.

You remember, earlier, we showed the interrelationship between all our themes and topics: health (body, soul, mind and emotions), sexuality, money, human relations. We said that those themes and topics help each other. All of these themes and topics are interrelated and form a well-knit. We advised you not to overlook a theme or topics for the benefit of another theme or topic.

Well, the same goes with vitamins and minerals. They help each other. Do not overlook a vitamin or mineral for the benefit of another vitamin or mineral. So, take all vitamins and mineral at the same time, all at once.

But do not take too much. In their posology, some manufacturers suggest a tablet per day or a spoonful each day. But in many cases: half tablet or half spoonful each day is enough; one tablet or a spoonful every other day is enough. It is quite sufficient for someone who eats well, for someone who is not very active. Talk to your health care professional. Improve body health with multivitamins and minerals.

Multivitamins and multi-minerals are not “drugs” or "medications", but rather nutrients.

We take some regularly and we feel well. Our body, sexuality, soul, spirit (mental and intelligence), emotions and sentiments, interpersonal relationships are benefiting; our physical and mental energy level are benefiting, they increase. We are at our best.

Multi-vitamins and multi-minerals are sold in solid or liquid form. The liquid form is assimilated faster in the body. We will discuss body composition and health.

Multi-vitamins and multi-minerals can be extracted from plants (natural); or can be synthesized (artificial). We advise the natural form (from plant) which is closer to the structures and functioning of the human body. But be aware: some natural forms (from plants) do not contain iron. And make sure that you are not allergic to plants. For now, we take Centrum.

5) The daily requirements for vitamins and minerals according to: gender, age, level of activity, occupation, medical condition, and so on.

These daily needs, in fact, may increase or decrease depending on: gender, age, activity or condition (health). For example: women need a little bid more iron, intellectuals need to increase their amount of the B-complex; lover of sport will increase their dose of vitamin C, and so on.

But all the vitamins and minerals should be taken at the same time, because they help each other. For more details, revisit the two websites suggested earlier.
