6) Food and Substances to Avoid or Moderate Cigarettes Should we introduce this familiar character? No. He is more than well known. He proved himself at the international level, for decades. Here are some harmful effects of tobacco: • Cardiovascular disease (1st cause of death); heart attacks, cerebral vascular accidents (strokes), angina pectoris, atherosclerosis, peripheral vessel disease • Hypertension • Impotence (lack of desire, flaccid erection) • Frigidity • Female and male sterility (sexuality and sterility are also linked) • Affects the embryo, fetus or baby • Menstrual problems • Preterm labor, preterm delivery • Is linked to cancer of the cervix • Cancers (second cause of death) • Depression • Reduces physical and mental energy • Decreases life expectancy • Each stick of cigarette reduces life expectancy by 15 minutes. May we say: “To pass a bad quarter of an hour?” • Bad breath (kiss a non-smoker and feel the difference) • Body, clothing, furniture and so on will stink • yellowing teeth • Wrinkled skin • Yellow stains on the fingers • Trembling hands • Insurance companies ask more money to smokers • Creates fire • Burn your money, your saving goes up in smoke... • Etc. Tobacco in all its forms causes: cerebral congestion, vertigo, dizziness and tremors. Tobacco impairs: sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch. Its C0 (carbon monoxide, nicknamed the choke), impairs breath (emphysema). Tobacco causes smokers chronic cough, throat irritation and bronchial pneumonia. Tobacco causes pharyngitis and chronic stomach pain. Tobacco causes: severe constipation, nausea and diarrhea, neuralgia in the arms and shoulders, cold sweat and palpitations, and so on.
Unfortunately, this sad list is not exhaustive, far from it. We lack the time and space to list the harmful effects of smoking as science and facts continue to list. Cigarette smoke contains about 4000 chemicals. About one hundred of them are carcinogenic. • Nicotine: deadly poison and drug addiction that creates a strong dependence • Tar: used to cover roads; breathtaking • The cyanide: deadly poison • Arsenic: herbicide (poison to kill weeds) • The formalin: poison used to preserve animal carcasses • Ammonia: found in fertilizers, explosives, cleaning fluids • Etc. Tobacco destroys ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Smokers should take extra vitamin C. But it is better to quit smoking.
